Catherine was affectionately known by many as "Cat". She received her education in Douglas, Georgia. Later in life, she met and married Roosevelt Mitchell and to this union, four children were born. One son preceded Catherine in death. In 1959, Catherine relocated to Miami, Florida and became a working mother. She served as a faithful member of Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Lavan Hicks, and later Reverend Ponder, where she was a member of Choir #1. God would direct Catherine to later join Mt.Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend William Walker. In April of 2004, she finally settled as a member of New Providence Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Vincent Davis; she remained a faithful member. Catherine was also a member of the Evangelism Ministry and the Mission Ministry, and she was also a Sunday School Teacher.
